Our Orchard
Located in Ross, Tasmania
The fresh Tasmanian cherries are grown in our orchard at Ross. Tasmania’s midlands climate of cold winters and hot dry summers is ideal for cherry production. These conditions give sufficient winter chilling for bud initiation and the heat of summer gives the Somercotes Cherries the high sugars and quality fruit.
The microclimate at Ross and the aspect of our orchard combined with Tasmania’s island state’s unique pest and disease free status allows Somercotes to grow premium fruit and develop our strong reputation for quality.
Each cherry is handpicked from our trees to supply local, interstate and and export markets. Somercotes cherries has recognised quality assurance accreditation covering the production, harvest and packing of our premium cherries.
